If you are asking "who is texting me on WhatsApp", the honest answer is that no tool can look up the owner of a WhatsApp number for you. What you can check is the face in their profile photo: save it, crop it and search that face on the public web to see whether it belongs to someone else.

THE SHORT ANSWER

• The fake job offer. A recruiter offers easy paid work, such as liking videos or rating products. Small early payments build trust before you are asked to deposit your own money to "unlock" larger tasks.
• The romance contact. A warm, attractive stranger who is always travelling, working abroad or unable to video call. Sooner or later there is a crisis that needs money.

In every one of these, the profile photo is doing work. It makes the sender look like a real, trustworthy person. That is exactly why it is worth checking.
