You can find someone on Reddit by photo only in a narrow case: when they posted a photo of their face, and that face also appears somewhere on the public web. Most Reddit users never show their face, so for most accounts there is nothing for a face search to work with.

Where a face photo was posted, the most useful question is usually not who this is. It is whether the photo is stolen, and a reverse face search is well suited to answering that.

• A sign that looks pasted on. Flat lighting, crisp edges or a username in a font rather than handwriting.
• A quick move off the platform. An invitation to continue on a messaging app, followed by a story that ends with a request for money, gift cards or codes.
• Photos that look like a professional shoot. Studio lighting and perfect framing are unusual for a casual selfie post.

HOW TO READ A CLEAN OR EMPTY RESULT

An empty result means nothing was found on the part of the public web Trace can reach. It is not evidence that the person has no online presence, and it does not prove the photo is genuine. The photo may be new, private or AI-generated.

A strong match needs care too. A similarity score compares two images and never states who somebody is. Relatives, twins and people who look alike can score highly. Check whether the pages show the same photos, the same setting or the same person with a consistent history.

VERIFY, DON'T STALK

Checking whether a photo in a post was stolen, protecting yourself from a scam, or finding where your own photos have been reposted is responsible use.

Unmasking a pseudonymous Reddit user against their will is not. People use pseudonyms on Reddit for good reasons: health, work, safety, family. Using a face search to link a Reddit account to a real-world identity that person has not shared is not what the tool is for.
