- Crop to one face. Remove captions, logos, overlays and other people.
- Try more than one frame. Different angles and lighting can change what a search finds.
If the face appears on a thumbnail, save the thumbnail too. It is often sharper than a paused frame.

Try Yandex Images as well; it sometimes copes better with crops. Search the channel name, the video title and any on-screen text or watermark in an ordinary search engine.
These are image searches. They find copies of the picture. A screenshot from a video is usually a new image that has never been published, so image search often finds nothing, which is where face search is different.
HOW A FACE SEARCH HELPS

RED FLAGS ON YOUTUBE

- The real channel elsewhere. If a face search shows the same creator on an established channel with a different name, the channel you are watching is very likely an impersonator.
Never send money, crypto or login codes because a video told you to. Genuine creators do not ask viewers to pay to receive a giveaway.
HOW TO READ A CLEAN OR EMPTY RESULT
An empty result means nothing was found on the part of the public web Trace can reach. It is not evidence that the person has no online presence. A blurry frame, a side profile or a heavily filtered face can all reduce what a search can find.
A strong match needs care. A similarity score compares two images and never states who somebody is. Relatives, twins and people who look alike can score highly. Open each page and check whether the context fits: the same channel, the same topics, the same voice.
VERIFY, DON'T STALK
Checking whether a channel is impersonating a known creator, finding where a public figure really publishes, or seeing whether your own face has been reused in someone else's video is responsible use.
People who appear briefly in a crowd, in the background of a vlog or in street footage are private individuals. Identifying them is not the purpose of a face search, and it is not responsible use. If a channel is running a scam, report it to the platform. If you have lost money, contact your bank and local police or the national fraud-reporting service.
