> AI face scan in your browser. Upload one photo and see where that face appears on the public web, every match scored — spot a catfish or find your own photos. No sign-up, nothing to install, and an API for developers.

**REVERSE FACE SEARCH · IN YOUR BROWSER**

# SEARCH A FACE. CATCH THE FAKE PROFILE.

**Reverse face search**, straight from your browser. Upload one clear photo and see where that face shows up across the public web — social profiles, news pages and forums, every match scored for confidence. Verify who you are really talking to, spot a catfish before you meet, or find out where your own pictures are being used.

No sign-up, no email · Free preview first · Credits never expire

- Results in ~30 seconds

- Matches ranked 70–100

- Nothing to install

- No public trace, no result

- Your photos deleted in 30 days

**HOW IT WORKS**

## ONE PHOTO IN. EVERY PUBLIC MATCH OUT.

No forms, no sign-up, no waiting on a report. Upload, scan, read the results — the whole thing takes about half a minute.

### UPLOAD A PHOTO

Drop in a picture, or take one with your camera on the spot, then drag to frame the face so it fills the circle. Front-on, well lit and unblurred wins every time.

### TRACE SCANS THE OPEN WEB

The face is compared against billions of images published on the public internet — social platforms, news articles, forums and blogs. Nothing private is opened, nothing behind a login is touched.

### READ THE RESULTS

Matches come back ranked by similarity, strongest first, each with the platform, the handle and a link you can open yourself to check.

### KEEP THE CASE FILE

Every scan is saved to your account so you can reopen it from any device with your key. Delete a single case, or wipe all of them, whenever you want.

**WHAT PEOPLE USE IT FOR**

## WHEN A PHOTO IS THE ONLY THING YOU HAVE.

A face is the one detail a fake account cannot change. These are the questions Trace was built to settle.

**FIND INSTAGRAM BY PHOTO**

### Which account does this photo belong to?

Someone sent you a picture but no username. Trace matches the face against public profiles on Instagram, Facebook, X and TikTok and shows you the ones that line up, each with a score.

**VERIFY A DATING MATCH**

### Are these photos really theirs?

Before the first date, check that your Tinder, Bumble or Hinge match's pictures actually belong to them — and that the same face is not running three other accounts under different names.

**CATFISH CHECK**

### Spot a catfish before you get burned.

Romance scams start with a stolen photo. If that face already belongs to a model, an influencer or a stock library, a 30-second scan tells you before your money or your feelings go anywhere.

**MARKETPLACE & RENTALS**

### Is the seller who they say they are?

Second-hand sellers, sublets, freelancers, ride shares. If they have a face on their profile, you can check that it belongs to a real, consistent identity before you pay a deposit.

**PROTECT YOUR OWN PHOTOS**

### Where are my pictures being used?

Search your own face and find the places your photos ended up — reposts, scraped profiles, accounts pretending to be you. You cannot get an image taken down until you know it exists.

**REVERSE IMAGE SEARCH, BUT FOR PEOPLE**

### Same person, completely different photo.

Classic reverse image search only finds copies of the same file. Trace matches the face, so a different outfit, a different background or a photo from five years ago still comes back as a hit.

**MATCH CONFIDENCE**

## EVERY RESULT COMES WITH A NUMBER.

Trace never says "this is them". It gives you a similarity score and lets you judge — with the source link right there so you can open it and see for yourself.

**SAME PHOTO, TWO TOOLS**

## REVERSE FACE SEARCH FINDS PAGES. WE ALSO FIND ACCOUNTS.

28 August 2026: one photograph, run through Trace and through FaceCheck.ID inside the same hour. Each score below is that tool's own number, off its own results page.

### TRACE

11 results · 4 social accounts

- Instagram profile — 88
- TikTok profile — 85
- Telegram profile — 85
- GitHub profile — 81
- Three more results — X profile, Calendly, GitLab — 77+

### FaceCheck.ID

20+ results · top score 81

- GitHub page — their label: uncertain — 81
- Everything else — news, LinkedIn, YouTube, archives — their label: weak — 65↓

Image search can only return a page somebody already crawled. Trace runs a second round: once the first round produces a name or a username, it asks the platforms directly — which is where every social account above came from. One photograph is one data point, not a benchmark; the [full comparison](https://traceaifacescan.app/facecheck-id-alternative/) also says where FaceCheck.ID is the better tool.

**BUILT PRIVATE**

## YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO TELL US WHO YOU ARE.

Trace is a verification tool, not a data business. There is no sign-up form and no profile of you to sell.

- No sign-up. No email address, no phone number, no password — your account is a key you copy once.

- Your uploaded photo is stored only so you can reopen the result, and is deleted automatically after 30 days.

- The cropped square leaves only for the search itself: it is served from an unguessable address for at most 10 minutes, then that address stops working. What the public search engines keep in their own caches is their policy, not ours.

- Delete one scan, or wipe your entire account and every image with it, from the panel in one tap.

- Trace only surfaces pages that are already public. It never opens anything behind a login.

**RESPONSIBLE USE**

### Search photos you have the right to search.

Your own, or someone's with their consent. Trace exists so people can verify who they are dealing with and protect their own image — it is not a background-check service and must not be used to identify, track or harass anyone. Use it in line with the law where you live, including GDPR and KVKK.

**CREDITS**

## ONE CREDIT, ONE SEARCH.

No subscription. Buy a pack of credits, spend them whenever you need them — they never expire and nothing renews. Pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay on a hosted payment page; through Telegram with the method already on your Telegram account; or with cryptocurrency. No account to create with anyone, and nothing to cancel later.

### 5 CREDITS

**Five searches.** The entry pack — enough to settle one situation and check it from a few different photos.

### 15 CREDITS

**Fifteen searches** at a lower price per scan. Where most people land.

### 40 CREDITS

**Forty searches.** For working through a list of faces rather than settling one.

### 100 CREDITS

**A hundred searches** — the lowest cost per scan, and the pack the API is built around.

Prices are in US dollars. Pay by **card** — Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Apple Pay or Google Pay — or with Telegram Stars, or with cryptocurrency. No subscription and no recurring charge; you buy credits once and spend them whenever you like. The prices above are the card price — Telegram Stars are priced separately and cost more, because Telegram keeps a share of every Star. Crypto carries a network minimum of about $19, so the smaller packs are card or Stars only.

**FOR DEVELOPERS**

## THE SAME AI FACE SCAN, AS AN API.

Everything the panel does is available over HTTP: POST one photo, poll for the result, read the matches. One credit per search from the same balance, no subscription and no monthly minimum.

**REST + JSON**

### One header, three calls.

Authentication is a bearer token you create in the panel. Start a scan, poll it, read the matches — no SDK, no handshake, no sales call.

**OUR OWN ENGINE**

### Not a reseller.

Trace runs its own face search service, which is why a search costs cents rather than dollars and why there is no request rate limit to negotiate.

**PAY PER SEARCH**

### Credits, not contracts.

One credit per search, bought in packs priced in dollars. Nothing renews, nothing expires, and there is no minimum spend to get a key.

```bash
curl -X POST https://traceaifacescan.app/api/v1/scans \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer trk_live_..." \
  -F image=@face.jpg
```

**FAQ**

## THE QUESTIONS EVERYONE ASKS FIRST.

### How do I find someone's Instagram account from a photo?

Upload the photo to Trace and frame the face. Trace compares it against faces published on the open web and lists the public profiles it matches — Instagram, Facebook, X and TikTok included — each with a confidence score and a link you can open. Trace only ever returns pages that are already public; nothing private is unlocked.

### Is Trace a reverse image search?

It is a **reverse face search**, which is not quite the same thing. A normal reverse image search looks for copies of the same image file, so it fails the moment the picture has been cropped, filtered or replaced. Trace looks for the same *face* — different clothes, different background, a photo from a different year, and it still matches.

### How accurate is the match score?

Every result carries a similarity score. **70–80** is a possible match worth a second look, **80–90** is a strong match, and **90+** is near-certain. Accuracy depends enormously on the photo you feed it: front-on, well lit and sharp gives by far the best results, while a blurry side profile in bad light will not.

### Does Trace store my photos?

Only as long as your result needs it. The photo you upload is kept so you can reopen the scan later, and is **deleted automatically after 30 days**. The copy that goes out to run the search is served from an **unguessable address for at most 10 minutes**, after which that address stops working — though what the public search engines keep in their own caches is outside our control. We build no identity profiles and sell no data, there is no email address attached to you, and deleting a scan — or your whole account — erases the images immediately.

### How much does a search cost?

One credit equals one revealed search, and **there is no subscription**. You buy a pack of credits and spend them whenever you like; they never expire and nothing renews. The smallest pack is five credits. Pay by **card** on a hosted payment page, with **Telegram Stars**, or with **cryptocurrency** — nothing recurring, nothing to cancel.

### Can I try it before paying?

Yes. Run a scan with no credits and you get a **preview of what a finished result looks like** — the layout, the score bands and a card for each source, locked. It costs nothing and needs no account. A credit runs the real search on your photo and unlocks the platform, the handle and the link.

### How do I sign in without a password?

You don't create anything. The first time you open the panel, Trace generates an **account ID and a recovery key** and shows them to you once — copy them somewhere safe. Your browser stays signed in on its own after that. To use a different computer, paste the account ID and key in. If you have paid with Telegram Stars, your Telegram account also works as a way back in.

### Is it legal to search someone's face?

Trace is built for verification and for protecting your own image. Only search photos you have the right to use — your own, or with the person's consent — and follow the privacy law that applies where you live, such as GDPR in Europe or KVKK in Türkiye. Trace is not a background-check tool, and using it to identify, track or harass someone is not allowed.

### Do I need to install an app?

No — Trace runs in the browser on any phone, tablet or computer, with no download and no app store. If you'd rather have it behave like an app, install it to your home screen: on Android tap **Install** in the header, on iPhone use **Share → Add to Home Screen**. It then opens full screen with its own icon and keeps you signed in.

### How is this different from Google reverse image search?

Google matches the *image file*, so it mostly finds pages that reposted the exact picture — useful for tracking a meme, useless for finding a person. Trace matches the *face* and scores each result, which is why it surfaces social profiles that an image search never returns.

### What is an AI face scan?

An AI face scan takes a photograph of a face and finds the other places that same face appears, using a model that compares facial geometry — the proportions and distances that stay stable from photo to photo. That is what separates it from a reverse image search, which compares image files and fails the moment the picture has been cropped or filtered. A face scan matches the person, so a different outfit, a different background and a photo from a different year all still match.

### Is there an AI face scan API?

Yes. The same engine the panel runs on is available as a REST API: POST one photo, poll for the result, read the matches with their scores. Authentication is a bearer token you create in the panel, pricing is one credit per search from the same balance, and there is no subscription or monthly minimum. The details are on the [AI face scan API page](https://traceaifacescan.app/ai-face-scan-api/).

**BACKGROUND**

## WHAT IS REVERSE FACE SEARCH?

Reverse face search is the process of taking a single photograph of a person and finding other places on the public internet where the same face appears. Unlike a traditional reverse image search, which compares files, a face search compares facial geometry — the distances and proportions that stay stable across photographs. That is why it can connect a passport-style portrait to a candid holiday snap taken years apart, and why it has become the standard way to check whether an online profile is real.

### Why people search a face instead of a name

Names are easy to fake. Anyone can create an account called anything, and scammers do — often several at once. A face is much harder to fabricate, which is why the first thing an experienced person does with a suspicious profile is check whether the pictures appear anywhere else. If the same face is posting under four different names in three countries, you have your answer in seconds.

### Common situations

- **Dating apps.** Verifying that a Tinder, Bumble or Hinge match's photos belong to the person you are talking to, before you agree to meet.

- **Romance and investment scams.** Catfish accounts almost always recycle photos taken from a real person's public account. A face search exposes the original owner.

- **Marketplace and rental deals.** Checking that a seller, subletter or freelancer has a consistent public identity before money changes hands.

- **Your own digital footprint.** Finding where your own photographs have been reposted, scraped or used to build an impersonating account — the first step in getting anything removed.

### How to get a good result

The quality of the input photo decides almost everything. Use a picture where the face is looking towards the camera, is well lit, is in focus and takes up a decent part of the frame. Group shots, heavy sunglasses, extreme angles and motion blur all reduce the number of matches. If a scan comes back thin, cropping tighter on the face and running it again usually helps more than trying a different app.

### What Trace will not do

Trace does not return home addresses, phone numbers, criminal records or anything else that belongs to a background check. It does not access private accounts, private messages or anything behind a login. It reads what is already public and tells you where it saw the same face — with a confidence score, not a verdict. The judgement stays yours.

### AI face scan vs reverse image search

"AI face scan" is the name that has stuck for this: a model reads the face out of the photograph and compares it against faces published elsewhere, rather than comparing the file. It matters in practice because scammers rarely repost a picture untouched — they crop it, mirror it, run a filter over it, or use a different photo of the same stolen person entirely. A file-based reverse image search misses all four. A face scan does not.

What it cannot do is invent a trace that is not there. Trace only reads what has been published publicly, so the honest version of the promise is this: if that face has been posted anywhere public that we can reach, a scan finds it — and if it has not, the result comes back empty and there is nothing any tool can do about that. An empty result is not proof the person does not exist; it means their face is not on the public web.

### How Trace compares to other face search tools

The two best-known services each ask you to commit before you have seen anything: one to a monthly subscription, the other to crypto-only credits that expire. We wrote both comparisons honestly, including the things they still do better: read the [PimEyes alternative comparison](https://traceaifacescan.app/pimeyes-alternative/) if you are weighing a monthly subscription with alerts and takedown services, or the [FaceCheck.ID alternative comparison](https://traceaifacescan.app/facecheck-id-alternative/) if crypto-only payment and expiring credits are what put you off.

**READY?**

## SETTLE IT IN 30 SECONDS.

One photo is all it takes. If that face has been published anywhere public, this is how you find it.
